Jessica has been creating wearable art since 2023
I live in Long Beach, CA with my devilishly handsome husband Matt and our mini dachshund Gandalf. Yes, we are Lord of the Rings fans and watch the directors cut every year without shame.
After I got my degree in Anthropology at CSULB, I fell in love with taking courses and learning new skills. After taking various art courses and music lessons, I decided to try sewing. Needless to say, I found a passion that has taken a hold of me.
I have a remote 9-5 job in Human Resources that I absolutely love but as someone who is driven deeply by passion, I knew I needed a creative outlet after work. Thus began a flow of ideas of where this studio/ space can be for starting this business. I now have a studio in my backyard (a she-shed if you will) that I can spend all night listening to my fantasy audiobooks while mending old quilts and upcycling vintage tablecloths!
Sewing has become a significant part of my life, allowing me to blend my creative interests into a cohesive expression. Taking that first sewing class opened up a new world for me – one where my visions can transform fabric and thread. With Milk Thistle Sewing, I can further explore this intersection of creativity and craftsmanship, while embracing the principles of slow fashion.
Since then, I have partnered with local Long Beach businesses such as Lucky Penny and Prism Boutique! I have met incredible people in the Long Beach community that have become life long friends all from getting out of my comfort zone by taking a sewing class!
